Well what can I say, the first stage was two year ago and the second supposed to be last year but didn’t happen.  To be fair they then said they would complete the second stage this winter and well they started it in January and it is still going on.

For some reason they changed all the new light bulbs to a cold light rather than the lovely warm ones we had until now.  What a waste of funding.

They had to chop some trees down to make way for pavements.  Also they were threatening to fall over so sadly they did need to go.  What a fascinating thing to watch.

We are almost  to the stage of finishing off,  but no sign of tarmac so we have enjoyed the pleasure of a dirt track road with huge pot wholes for all this time.  The residents are fed up of the dust storm effect created every time a car travels down the road.  I gave up washing my windows and have to brush my terrace everyday to get rid of all the dirt.

This whole thing could have been finished in half the time if they had enough men on the job.  Several times we went weeks with nothing going on in our street as all the labor was moved to another place to work.

It will look fab when it is done and that one thing is all thats stopping us from going crazy I think.

What a warm winter

Port de Pollença in Winter

We have enjoyed a wonderful winter this year temps in the range of 15º to 20º with  very little rain.  Of course the island needs rain to give you all tap water when you come over.  So please those of you who have been here the last week, try not to be to upset at the rainy days you have had.  It was just bad luck and the same week next year could be clear blue skies.  You just never know.

Puerto Pollensa

A little reminder of what you are missing if you  have not been back to Pto Pollensa this year.

If you were here this summer then you will know it has been a long hot one.  Then September came and what a relief, rain ( so sorry if you were unlucky on your week here but the island was desperate for water) A drop in temperatures and humidity saved us all, so now we can sleep at night.  Wonderful!

Pollensa is as always changing and yet not changing all at the same time.  Many new wonderful shops to browse and hopefully buy the quality products on sale.  The fiestas still thriving thank goodness, the health and safety lunatics have not yet gone crazy and over the top here yet.

If you have not yet been over then now is the time, warm enough to sit out and walk around yet cool enough to be energetic without passing out from the heat. The perfect time to enjoy Pollensa, Puerto Pollensa and all the wonderful surrounding areas.

All of you know that little Pepa was loved by all who had the luck to meet her. It is with great sadness that I must inform you that she died in September. How can such a little thing leave such a big whole in ones life!!! This was the last photo taken of her only 6 weeks before.

It is with great sadness that I have to announce that Artesania my precious shop has closed its doors permanently. The airlines luggage allowances and restrictions where too large a battle I am afraid.

I would like to thank all of you who have supported myself and all the Artisans who made the hand crafted products that you purchased from me. It was a joy to meet you.

Xx Lynn and of course the Queen of Calle Temple, Pepa.

You don’t have to be mad to do this but it helps!!!!!

Today is the amazing event of the Ultra Mallorca.  It is a 117 kilometre race over the mountains,  starting in Andraixt at midnight and taking the runners over the mountain trails to Pollença at the other end of the Tramuntana mountains. The time limit to complete the run is 24 hours.  Watching the first runners go past my shop today was quite breathtaking. The first crossing the line in the main square just under 11 hours, we then had a wait of an hour before the second runner arrived. VERY impressive as they look so fresh at the finish and even as I left at 14:30 only a handful of contestants had crossed the line.

There are two other trails that are shorter and less arduous, however just as impressive.

Here is a link to the Ultra Mallorca web site should you be mad enough to want to take part in 2014.

My congratulations to all of you who take part we are all in awe.
